Dear Youth Parents & Students:

As I came to YMS this year, I looked forward to working with the talented staff and exciting students that make up this wonderful school. The 07-08 school year brought many achievements that we are excited about! The students raised $1200 for the American Cancer Society;  we had a state winner in the Georgia Art Contest;  another student represented us at the state in the Young Author’s Writing Contest;  FBLA brought gold home with 3 students;  3 DUKE Tip recognitions;  and FCCLA brought home 4 gold and 1 silver award back from Region.  In the regular sports season we finished 1st in Football, Boys Basketball, and Girls Softball. After the competition of end-of-the-season tournaments, our Hornets ended 2nd in Football, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Baseball, and 3rd in Girls Softball.  In regards to state and national testing standards, our students face challenges and opportunities that are ever increasing.  We must teach the curriculum required for the success of our students, but we also deeply believe that we teach many lessons of life.  High expectations are truly what drives this staff and I am proud of all of their work this year. Together, with your students, we have accomplished many of our academic goals and exceeded in the  areas of writing, reading, language arts, math, science, & social studies. While we will take a little time to celebrate, we must not ever be satisfied with our progress, but continue to improve and strive for success. We look forward to next year as we begin to plan for our new goals!

Sincerely,

Bridget A. Lynch, Principal
