Youth Middle School

We are thrilled to welcome you back to school! The faculty is ready to challenge and excite our students with new academic goals for the 08-09 school year. These goals are the focus that drives our lesson planning and can be seen in every classroom around the school. We are dedicated to helping your students succeed in class; in turn, we require students to be prepared for class and to actively participate by giving the teacher the best that the student can put forth each and every day! With that type of commitment from both teacher and student, YMS students will far exceed all expectations!

This year we have included an academic support 25-minute period to help students stay on track. Students will work with their team teachers in areas of need. Some students might be grouped to work on science, writing, reading, or math. At the same time, other students might be given guidance with a missing assignment or work on computers. Teachers will also use this time to conference with individual students to make sure they are on track with their grades, assignments, and classes. This is a superb time for students to take advantage of their commitment to learning! With this extra time imbedded in the school day, zeros on homework are not an option at YMS! Students are expected to take ownership in their learning.

1st Quarter	October 8th & 9th
2nd Quarter/End of Semester One	January 14th
3rd Quarter	March 18th/19th
4th Quarter/ End of the Year	June 3rd

Parents,

	Please visit the Progressbook website often to view your student's progress. Access is always available.
	To check grades and access the new Progressbook grade book, click on the following link: www.wcpsgrades.org
	Also, at the request of a parent, teachers and staff will print up-to-date progress reports for the student and send it home via the student or through the mail.
	Pass codes for Progressbook have been sent out. Please get these from your student.
